Wednesday August 21 TNT Split Charter

Viking FiveStar TNT Split Charter
Captain Steven Jr reports the FiveStar returned early this morning with a nice catch from the deep! We fished Monday in less than ideal conditions, but we still managed a good pile of tiles for the day; we also picked up 6 albacore on the troll. At night, most of the guys got some rest, while a couple put put some sword bait, but all was quiet for the night with one mystery bite. The next day, we had much better weather and another decent day of bottom fishing, with some better sized tiles, the largest being 33lbs. We also picked up a nice yellow fin on the troll. At the end of the day, the weather was just too nice to leave, so we put in a couple extra hours trolling at sundown and were able to pick up a couple more nice yellow fins. Overall we had a good trip with a great group of guys, sending everyone home with lots of meat! Thank you to all on board for making it a fun and successful trip!

Tuesday August 6 Private 36 Hour Tuna Trip

Viking FiveStar Private Charter Report
We just returned late yesterday from a quick overnight trip to the edge and returned with a pair of nice big eyes! We got under way Monday afternoon and arrived in the deep just as the sun was setting. we got the lures in for about an hour and grabbed a small yellow fin. We then set up on a drift for the night with low expectations being that there hasn't been much of a night bite yet this year. We did have a decent sword fish on for a little while but ended up pulling the hook when it got close to the boat. prior to sunrise we got all the lures out and started a slow troll and with in 5 minutes we had a knock down. Shortly after that two rods doubled over and reels were getting dumped. After half and hour we had the first big eye in the boat which was around the 180 lb. mark. The other fish took a bit longer being that it jumped on the only 30w that we had out. But after an hour and a half we got him in the boat. The second we one weighed in later that day at Montauk Marine Basin and it came in at 241.8 lbs. We then spent a good part of the morning working the bank but it seemed to turn off for everyone. So we took a ride inshore and set the lures back in and picked up a long fin on the ride home. A successful trip being that we went to look for the quality fish and we got them. Did hear quite a few good reports of yellow fins being caught out there too. Everything is right out there now and a good amount of fish around. Looks like we are in for a good year on the edge. We have a couple open boat tuna and tile trips coming up in August and September and only a couple open dates left for offshore trip in August. The bite is on! give us a call and lets get back out there!

Wednesday July 31 Afternoon Charter

Captain Steven Jr reports a good afternoon of fluke fishing! We had at least one keeper on every drift, and plenty of shorts to keep the guys busy. In the end, we tallied up 14 keeper fluke with 2 around 5 lbs. The largest fluke we had was 8.5lbs! We also had a couple of sea bass and porgies in the mix. Overall everyone went home with a mess of filets and the group was very happy.

Monday July 29 Afternoon Family Charter

Captain Steven Jr reports a great afternoon of fishing. It was a mixed bag of Montauk bounty! We started out trolling and immediately found some hungry stripers! We had one moo cow on that bent the rod in half but spit the hook and that was the end of that. We also had a few nice sized chompin blues mixed in for some added excitement. Then we switched over and headed west to end up on a pile of sea bass and scup. Then it was non stop action until we left. Brother Marco was the pool winner with a nice 14lb bass on a porgie rig and Uncle Dom with a 4.2 sea bass. Honorable mention to cousin Vinny with a 3.9 porgy, and Paul the porgy slayer with his first montauk catch of scup and sea bass. It was a great day of fishing and back to the dock enjoying the beautiful sunset.

Saturday July 27 Full Day Shark Charter

Overall not a lot of action but we did have 3 makos for the day. The first mako was estimated between 200-225lbs but he put on an air show for us and ended up jumping him off. The second one was around 100 lbs and also jumped off. The third mako we got in the boat after a 15 minute fight and is around the 150lb mark. Will have some pictures to post after we get tied up at the dock.
