Thur July 28 - Coxes Cod

Capt Steven Jr. reports a decent day today on the cod grounds, but not the action that we have been seeing on past trips. Things started off slow with the cod but we found a steady pick to work on later in the day. From beginning to end we had a bunch of ling coming up everywhere. We also grabbed a nice bluefin around 100lbs on a cod rig. By the end everyone went home with a nice pile of cod and a load of ling.

Thur July 20 - Coxes Cod

Capt Steven Jr reports another great day of summer cod fishing today on our Coxes Ledge trip. We had steady action through the morning with a bunch of quality fish. Later in the day we jumped around and found a couple fish here and there. Highlight of the day was Vinny with his slob 35 lb cod!! By the end of the day everyone went home with a nice pile of fillets. High hook was around 14 keepers.

July 10 Half Day Charter

Had a good afternoon half day today with a pile of big bass and a handful of scup mixed in!

July 15th 2 Day Inshore Special

2 Day Inshore Special
We put together another good trip this weekend inshore. We once again had excellent Cod fishing on day one with a lot of quality fish. In a couple hours of fishing we put a good load on board and headed Inshore to go fluking. The fluke fishing was picky but we were able to get a shot of keepers and a mess of big seabass. From there we headed into block for the night where everyone got to go out for dinner and check out the island. The second day we made a few bass drifts with the live bait but all was quiet around Block. We did get a shot of nice seabass and a load of big porgies. From there we spent the rest of the day fluking our way back to Montauk and picked away seeing a few more quality fluke and some more seabass. Overall a good trip and everyone went home with a good pile of fish.

Thurs July 13 - Coxes Cod

Thur July 13
Coxes Cod - Viking Fivestar
We had a slammer day on the cod grounds today with everyone going home with full coolers of quality fish!! What a difference a couple days makes!! Last weekend we could barley hold bottom with the full moon tide but today we had the conditions we needed. Steady action through the morning filled everything up pretty quick and we also had a pile of ling in the mix. Looking forward to getting back out there this weekend on our 2 Day Inshore special!! Few spots open for this weekends trip and some room on the next Coxes trip Thursday. Give the office a call to get on!! (631)668-5700

Sun July 9 - 2 Day Inshore Special

2 Day Inshore Special - Viking Fivestar
We started of on Coxes and had much slower fishing then we had on our last trip down there. Full moon tides made the drift so quick that 20 oz of lead was tough to hold bottom, so we left the cod grounds early and headed inshore to Block to go fluking. After a couple of drifts we got a good drift going and had phenomenal fishing. Mostly keepers and quality fish up to 7.9 lbs. By the end of the afternoon we had around 40 keepers for just the afternoon of fishing. From there we headed into Block Island and tied up for the night allowing everyone to go out for dinner and drinks. The next morning we headed out and started off sea bassing and got a quick load of nice fish, we then headed off fluking. We got back to where we were fishing the day before but couldn't get a drift going with wind against tide. We bounced our way from Block back to Montauk fluking and picking a few fish here and there, along with a couple more seabass. We also kept a handful of jumbo porgies. After that we went striped bass fishing and had a couple bass and some blues but nothing great. By the end of the trip everyone had a good pile of fish to go home with. We have another one of these over nighters going this up coming weekend and we have some open spots so give the office a call and jump on!

Fri July 6 - July Coxes Cod

We got our first trip in cod fishing Coxes yesterday and had a bit of a grind but got some decent fish out of it. We covered a lot of ground trying over a dozen areas but never found real solid fishing just a few here any there, but most of the fish were quality fat healthy fish. By the end of the day everyone had a few cod to go home with. The Brandow brothers ended up with 11 cod between them and Ronny Johnson and Bruce went home with 9 in their cooler. Being that we were able to cover so much of the grounds yesterday we have a good idea of where to be and where not to bother with on the up coming trips through July.
