Oct 7- BI Cod/ Sea Bass/ Blackfish Charter

We had another excellent day on the Block Island grounds today! The cod were chewing on the first drop and we filled a deck box of nice fish in the first half hour of fishing. We made one other cod drop and had a good steady pick of cod for over an hour. By the end of the day we ended up with 61 nice cod. From there we went inshore and tried for some black fish in the shallower water but it seems like it's still too early for them to start biting. We had a hand full of shorts and got only 4 keepers out of it along with a bunch of xl seabass. The cod fishing has been real good and we have only hit a couple drops this year and all of them have produced well. Keep an eye on the website as we may add a couple open boat cod trips this month on some open dates where the weather allows. We also have date open charters so call the office for availability.

Capt Steven Jr reports that we got out on our first Block Island Cod and Sea Bass trip and we had an excellent day! We had good action throughout the day and put together a nice pile of fish. The seabass were all quality sized and more cod were gaffed then measured. By the end of the day we had a boat limit of XL seabass and  around 60 keeper cod with some scup in the mix as well. We have a bunch more of this and other bottom fishing trips coming up this fall. So check out the schedule or give the office a call and get on a trip before they fill up.

Sept 26, 2016 - 36 Hour tuna

Capt Steven Jr reports we got a brake in the weather and shot out before the next blow. We managed to put an ok trip together considering  how slow tuna fishing has been this year. The night bite remains very quiet and most of the action continues on the troll during the day. We managed to grab 8 albacore and 1 yellow fin around 60 lbs. With a couple other knock downs for the trip. We only saw a couple of mahi around and not the quality sized  stuff we have been seeing. Hopefully the night bite starts up here soon.

Sept 16, 2016 - 48 Hour Tuna

Capt Steven Jr reports that we managed to put together a good trip with some good action on the troll. We ended up with 13 albacore and a handful of mahi. For the first half of the day the troll was very quiet, but we grabbed a few mahi off the pots. Just before sundown the albies came up and decided to chew. We had a bunch of multiple hook ups which made them add up in a few passes. The night bite remains very quiet with only a couple mystery bites and not much squid around. Hopefully the chunk bite picks up here in the next couple weeks.

36 Hour Tuna Report

Captain Steven Jr reports we just got in this morning from a phenomenal 36 hr tuna trip with Captain James Schinder and friends. We had lock and load fishing all day yesterday making a quick limit of yellow fin in the 50-70 lb range and a pair of big eyes, one around 150 lbs and the other weighing in at 258lbs!!! It seemed like we always had at least on fish on for most of the day and as many as 7 on at times! Fishing keeps getting better here and we are looking forward to getting back on them after this blow.

24 Hour Tuna Report

Captain Steven Jr reports an excellent tuna trip this past Tuesday. Although it was a short trip, we stayed a little longer to put in more time and it totally paid off. We had a couple yellows on the green stick early in the day and in the afternoon we had a slammer chunk bite! We were pretty much hand feeding them bait off the back of the boat and ended up putting 18 yellowfins from 45-70lbs in the boat before we called it a trip. We are looking forward to getting back out there to get back on them. Looks like we are in for a good September chunk bite here after a long tough summer season. There are still some spots open on some of the split charter trips and only a few available dates open for private trips. So book now before its too late!
