We just got tied up in Block Island after our first day of our 2 day
inshore special trip. We spent most of the day cod fishing and put
together a nice pile of market sized cod for everyone. The day started
of with decent action but a lot of short fish, as the day when on our
keeper ratio and action improved. Most guys averaged 5-6 keepers a man
and high hook was 9. The biggest cod was around 25lbs. After cod fishing
we worked inshore to do some fluke fishing to end the day but a weak
drift made for slow fishing with only a few small fish coming up. But we
have all day tomorrow to target the fluke and some bass as we fish our
way back to Montauk. Until then everyone is going to enjoy a nice night
on Block Island.
The second day of our 2 Day Inshore Special went well. We started off fluking and had steady action that improved as the day went on. By the middle of the day we ended up with a little over 20 keeper fluke. From there we headed back to the point and tried some bass fishing. We had a nice bass on the first drift as the tide slowed down. We only had a couple more bites and then a nice mix of porgies. Overall it was a great trip and everyone went home with some nice bags of fillets!
