Viking FiveStar Private Charter Report
We just returned late yesterday from a quick overnight trip to the edge and returned with a pair of nice big eyes! We got under way Monday afternoon and arrived in the deep just as the sun was setting. we got the lures in for about an hour and grabbed a small yellow fin. We then set up on a drift for the night with low expectations being that there hasn't been much of a night bite yet this year. We did have a decent sword fish on for a little while but ended up pulling the hook when it got close to the boat. prior to sunrise we got all the lures out and started a slow troll and with in 5 minutes we had a knock down. Shortly after that two rods doubled over and reels were getting dumped. After half and hour we had the first big eye in the boat which was around the 180 lb. mark. The other fish took a bit longer being that it jumped on the only 30w that we had out. But after an hour and a half we got him in the boat. The second we one weighed in later that day at Montauk Marine Basin and it came in at 241.8 lbs. We then spent a good part of the morning working the bank but it seemed to turn off for everyone. So we took a ride inshore and set the lures back in and picked up a long fin on the ride home. A successful trip being that we went to look for the quality fish and we got them. Did hear quite a few good reports of yellow fins being caught out there too. Everything is right out there now and a good amount of fish around. Looks like we are in for a good year on the edge. We have a couple open boat tuna and tile trips coming up in August and September and only a couple open dates left for offshore trip in August. The bite is on! give us a call and lets get back out there!
